
Terms of Service
Ukiyo Hair aims to create a serene, secure & professional environment. Our skilled stylists are specialists in their field & will choose the most suitable method to achieve the desired outcome based on your inspiration, allowing your artist to unleash their creative talent.
Please be aware all terms are subject to change without prior notice. In most instances, all the points mentioned below are interchangeable with one another.
Our promise to you is to be professional in our language, dress & demeanour, ensuring we deliver a creative personable experience for you.

Pricing - Our prices are based on consult. We do not offer any discount if you choose to skip any of the inclusions in our services, they are not negotiable. It is also quite simply impossible to standardise colour prices, colours are designed around what is possible with your hair at the point of the personalised consult. The prices are a guide & estimate only. We do not offer quotes over the phone for colour. What this means is that our prices are not cut & paste. Your hair may cost more or less compared to your friend for a similar technique. All colour & treatment services are to be paired with a Style Cut or Style Dry.

Cancelling or rescheduling - We understand that things can change & appointments sometimes need to be moved. We work by appointment only, & many of our stylists come in specially to deliver their technical skills for you at that agreed time. We ask you to give 3 days notice at a minimum of the change of appointment, as this allows us to refill the space.

Confirming your appointment - We expect you to & it is polite to respond in a timely manner to your conformation reminder with a Yes. Reminder texts are usually sent at least 4 days prior. A non response is not considered a no - It is considered a no show. Please reply with a No if you wish to cancel or reschedule (at 4 days) & one of our staff will contact you to reschedule.

Holding Fee - It is expected a holding fee of $95.00 is to be paid to Ukiyo Hair - this is not negotiable. If you reschedule or cancel your appointment before the confirmation texts are sent out 4 days prior, it can be transferred to your next appointment once. Further rescheduling or cancelling will void the holding fee & will be rendered services paid for work by us in labour & the stylist taking time out for you. A no show to the appointment will also render the holding fee void.

Parking - Please allow time to park. We do not recommend parking on street meters. Central & CentrePoint are close, but cars must be out by 6pm, however, Argyle Street is open late, as is Market Place. We are not responsible for your choice of parking due to circumstances out of our control in the boutique. Colours take time & may run later, park in Argyle Street or Market Place if you have an afternoon colour scheduled.

Running late - If you are running late, we can sometimes accommodate up to 15 minutes - This is not a guarantee, & if you continually run late, as this also depends on how your stylist arranged your appointment. You must call us ahead of time if this is a situation you are experiencing - traffic on the Bridge, Southern Outlet & Brooker Highway is notorious for accidents & ought to be considered when planning your trip. However, sometimes things out of our control with prior guests will cause us to run late. We will contact you to let you know if this is the case.

Boudoir - The boudoir, or basin area is strictly for guests & staff only. It is a quiet area for treatments & relaxation. All visitors are to wait at the boutique reception for you to return to the boutique styling chair - please let them know to wait for you. If taking your phone into the boudoir, or in the boutique in general, please put it on silent (wear buds for movies etc.). Please consider the guests next to you are there for relaxation.

Noise ~ Please keep loud noise to a minimum & wear pods or headphones whilst listening to podcasts etc, whilst a guest or visitor in the boutique. Some guests maybe experiencing a silent appointment.

Children - We do welcome children as guests - there is a price on request. We are an adult centric boutique, however, many guests come to Ukiyo for a relaxing experience, please consider this. Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing in your little ones due to not being able to obtain care for the entirety of your appointment. Due to the space & staffing, sadly we can not always entertain your little ones.

Extensions - It is your responsibility to inform the stylist if you have beaded in, taped or sew-in extensions. Not all stylists will work with extensions in your hair. Styling of clipped-in extensions are a separate charge -not all stylist will work with clip-ins & no responsibility is taken if you do not ask the stylist before booking. We will not clip them in for you, or colour them without expressed consent from the stylist before booking & working on your hair. Colouring of extensions vary greatly depending on the quality of the hair you have purchased (plastic, blended or remy, etc.). We take no responsibility for the extensions slipping, or the colour that may appear on the extensions in your hair when having colour in our boutique.

Hair-up - Not all stylists will do hair-ups. You must get expressed consent from your stylist before booking. Please note that Style Dry’s are not hair-ups & do not have any pin work in them. If you require any pinwork in your Style Dry, this is then considered a Hair-up.

Colour - Our colour services prices are estimates only & are not stand alone. The are to be paired with a Style Dry or a Style Cut.

Treatments - Our treatment services prices are not stand alone. They are to be paired with a Style Dry or a Style Cut.

Furniture - Please do not move or rearrange the boutique furniture. Many pieces are bespoke antiques. Please let your visitors know this when they briefly visit.

Baggage - Please leave your baggage & large shopping with the concierge on the ground floor. We do not have the room to accommodate them sorry.
